Dream Theater - On The Backs Of Angels

“Tears fall from the shameless. Shelter me, guide me to the edge of the water.”

These guys have been a central part of our musical lives, be it progressive or not progressive anymore. Dream Theater is back with a new drummer, a new atmosphere and a whole new sense of self-belief!

With each of the members being a world class musician, they are at their core of progressive rock. This concentration of raw talent has led Dream Theater to release an incredible variety of music. Their music soars, grinds, floats, pounds, swirls, surrounds.. not in a sexual way of course. They are one of the bands who can evoke the breath of various emotions all in a single song they’ve made. With their recent album titled “A Dramatic Turn Of Events” the title in itself really explains the whole album.

Mike Portnoy’s sudden decision to leave the band is still a mystery to us. He is not only widely considered as the greatest living drummer of all time but he started Dream Theater and has led them to where they are now. It’s not only a big gap to fill in now, but to be behind the drums and under the pressure of fans and the media without cracking up, it will truly test the new drummer’s overall performance day in day out.

So go ahead and catch a glimpse of their new drummer in this music video “On The Back Of Angels”, and give us your thoughts on how much impact he has made to the element of the song. Again, perfect and beautiful. Epic masterpiece! :D

Original Lineup - Jordan Rudess, John Myung, Mike Portnoy, John Petrucci, James Labrie (from left to right)
