Manafest - Pushover
“What you want with me this time, you tailing me..”
Raw, powerful and brimming with confidence, Manafest is the real sound of hip hop and rock combined for future generic music. We find this a very rewarding mix.
Hailing from Canada, Chris Greenwood, better known as Manafest, got a name like a power metal band and there’s every reason to really love him. With nothing that immediately sticks out as new or unique, Manafest’s brilliant tracks are absolute heaviness with some blazing technical proficiency. His rap abilities and singing altogether show off a versatility in him and flair within the choruses he put up.
On first listen, tracks like ‘Bring The Ruckus’, ‘Renegade’ and ‘Fighter’ gave me that ‘P.O.D’ kind of vibe. Oh yes it’s all been done before. Those fine production, soaring attention at first look and leaving the listeners spluttering in a cloud of heart-wrenching fumes, who would have thought those feelings match the current tunes of Manafest. Sound solid we must say but curiously, Manafest come as a bit of a surprise in terms of fanbase. Music of any genre is worth being explored and his new album “Fighter” is a must-have! :)
Check out his epic music video “Bring The Ruckus”! Oh look out for Manafest at the upcoming Music Matters Live 2012 in Singapore! Cheers lads!
Turtle Giant - Force Divide
“We’ll bear to wonder why, out of youth and out of lies.”
We begin with a simple idea for Turtle Giant. Write tight songs and have your own style. They are to be heard in one flowing motion. Well, this song is their breakthrough.
‘Force Divide’ proved that Turtle Giant is capable of great musical strides and could also appeal to a far wider audience with this said track. Their EP album titled “All Hidden Places” is no more than an exercise in indie rock indulgence. A journey through different states of minds, there’s joy in progression within this album that provides a basic structure for their musical wanderings. Turtle Giant is a band exploiting artistic freedom to its fullest capacity. They are determine to prove they’re are more than just another bunch of songwriters. Basically you could listen to their music without having to be completely finished and you know it makes sense.
A beautiful and fascinating work, the band from Macau currently will be making their way to perform for Music Matters Live in Singapore! Next time around, they will be building on respect. :)

Chet Faker - Terms And Conditions
“Oh baby, I’ve been a fool. Now the sound of loving is old and somehow gone.”
I truly believe that beards have some magical powers in them. Beards will rule the world sooner or later, with powerful music of course and Chet Faker just might be the new prince. Well, almost. :)

His elegant soothing voice is definitely the key for him to go far in this urban electronica-acoustic track kind of feeling, known as ‘Terms And Conditions’. It’s sometimes hard to work out how good the actual music is. There’s a fine line. Especially for him who long ago gave up hoping for any of his records to reach a ‘freakout’ level, till ‘No Diggity’ came along. His cover of ‘No Diggity’ by Blackstreet hit top spot in the worldwide indie music. That made him even more adventurous in search of a suitable tune.
His emotional impulses are somewhat compromised by the tightly controlled nature of his music. I might feel that his music is rather easily challenged by other musicians, but Chet Faker should find this an approachable and engaging introduction to a most pleasant-looking Aussie. It’s the usual moody blend of electronica, indie, piano balladry, and a pinch of dark jazz perhaps, he made his EP album ‘Thinking in Textures’ more of a euphoric trance with soul vocals. In other words, enjoy the music. :)

The Telephones - D.E.N.W.A
“I LOVE DISCO!”
Their wacky music and playful sense of humor are their definition of music!
The Telephones continue to advance in the hope of gaining support with their aggressive style and lovable approach in Japan music industry. No questions asked, a diversity between pop punk and garage electro definitely put them in the driving seat with their powerful live performances too.
We all love tons of bands who signed with major labels and we have to applaud them for achieving their professional goals. The Telephones are exactly the kind of band you should add up to your music library. We know this song is kinda old but we just had to share it with you guys! This catchy track titled “D.E.N.W.A” probably had me liked them in mind, in a righteous way. It got heavy guitars, messy ringtone synths and a chant along chorus that might just freak you out! Anyways their recent album “D.E.N.W.A” recaptures the wild wild magic of songs like ‘Monkey Discoooooo’ and ‘Urban Disco’. It’s all disco fever for them since the beginning of their era. :D

The Telephones are taking to the next level with their taste of awesomeness. Music is their weapon. Unbelievers are their enemy.

Work out your day by jumping like crazy with this another awesome video from them! You gotta love them!
The Telephones - Yeah Yeah Yeah
“I want to be your shoebox.”
Blood Red Shoes - Cold
“I believe in your air, something is happening.”
No matter how many bands attempt to range their groovy skills, the Brighton pair is consistently engaging, challenging to a point where repeat listens are a must! Totally fearless in their songwriting approach with their new album “In Time To Voices”.

Emotive music that is seemingly only shared by UK rock bands, Blood Red Shoes’ ability of producing music never change. This frantic pace track titled “Cold” features the band real achievement since their debut album which was released in 2008. They took the rough with the smooth and inspiring efforts for their new album;a sustained beating to which everyone should remember.
Laura-Mary talked about the new release..
“With this album we totally threw out the rulebook of how we write and record. We decided we wanted to make a really ambitious record, not something which reflects our live show but something which is only limited by our imaginations and not by how many instruments we use onstage. We figured the best way to push ourselves forward was to write the best possible songs and melodies we could - once you have that as your foundation, you have the freedom to go anywhere with the sounds you use. We feel like a totally different now. We feel like we’re shooting for the stars.”
This shows just how strong the band sound and if they’re impressive live, Blood Red Shoes are steering clear for the next album of course! Please keep them in mind :)
Fun facts: The track “It’s Getting Boring By The Sea” was one of the soundtracks for that movie ‘Scott Pilgrim vs The World’.

Check out their music video for ‘Light It Up’ from their previous album “Fire Like This”. Totally diggin this.
Crystalyne - Wolves
“I needed you to surround the whole of me.”
It’s certainly more than a satisfying affair. Who would have guessed that Marissa Emma, a Youtube sensation for us that is, has now settled comfortably into this new recent formed band called Crystalyne! Is a somewhat likely combination to begin with as Marissa made a further surprise to what kind of music she is striving into.
Crystalyne provides that equally clear confidence with their first ever music video for one of their singles titled “Wolves”. This is a no nonsense performance from them and thankfully they have their own quality of pop rock perhaps. Proving exceptionally tight in all areas and considering this is their second single, it underlines the rich material with precise vocals to come along.

Despite getting little attention from the public, Crystalyne won’t disappoint us with their forthcoming album hopefully! Fingers cross, heads up and have faith in them! Oh do follow them on their social websites for more updates and give your support while you are still alive! :D

In the meantime, check out their acoustic version for “Weapon”. Brilliant.
Follow You Home - Playing With Fire
“Taking part is not the thing that counts.”
Fresh and unique, there have been some starting updates about this band. Follow You Home are not your average mainstream mates and there simply only melodic punk with that hard edge you can possibly hear! You’ll get the idea once you listen to them :)

So they say it’s never about the quantity, well Follow You home definitely have that quality in them that’s soon to be stretched. Their brand of power/pop rock may sound difficult, but they are keeping and creating that fresh feeling about it. Different is definitely the word. From their recent EP album “Save Yourself”, Kaley Busby’s rare clear voice is delightfully wretched in this one, with some backing vocals from the rest of the band. And in all honesty, it takes a few listens to gauge exactly what kind of beast Follow You Home is! Perhaps this is where their success will ultimately start. :)
If we are being generous, it’s a fair shout that it’s been cool and intense in the same way for the band to be yet unsigned by any record label. More fresh riffs from them perhaps? This track, “Playing With Fire” has a real meaning to them of course to the direction they wanna be! I have total admiration and faith in them moving forward! :D

Enjoy this superb song from them too! Save yourself, you don’t need help!
Lovedrug - Wild Blood
“I’m a lover, not a fighter.”

Original and very captivating, Lovedrug’s appearance says it all. Already played with bands like The Killers and Switchfoot, no wonder their music have immaculate the strong reception they’ve been getting!
Those lucky enough to hear them before us, you guys better give them a nod for their growing phenomenon to retain their artistic freedom. Lovedrug are standing out in the rock scene as we speak with their current album “Wild Blood”. Songs like ‘Pink Champagne’, ‘Girl’, and ‘Ladders’ provide that definition of sweet control. They are just taking their time with this album and putting their hearts into these songs. Let it ring, hear the sound, bow your head and take a moment to listen :)
It’s just a matter of respecting their standpoint on the songs and make sure that we believe in what they’re doing. Formed in 2002, Lovedrug is the brainchild of Michael Sheppard, who is responsible for the vocals and guitars as well. Rising above the indie rock silhouette, Michael brought quality arrangement and his own accomplished presence to the band. A smashing success!
As long you have that somebody that actually likes their music, you can go as far as you can without getting screwed! :D
Check out their Youtube channel and the band website below!

Oh and check out their ‘Dinosaur’ music video! Weird, funny, unique, brilliant.. and a bunch of hotties too :)
Bury Tomorrow - Royal Blood
“I don’t trust the dark these days.”
Their sound has gotten pretty intense and can actually pull off with some good songwriting! Something fresh and new for the fans, Bury Tomorrow, a metalcore band have been building an immovable fanbase! Their upcoming album “The Union Of Crowns” has its roots in their early sound and the increase of intensity tightened the nuts and bolts of this fabulous track titled “Royal Blood”. This album gonna be massive!

“Royal Blood” lyrically the song is angry but about struggle. It has that kind of vibe which settles into a cosy routine upon re-listening to this material they’ve recorded. But as they have proved in the past with their first album “The Sleep Of The Innocents”, this is one band who have absolutely no intention of taking the easy route to success. They don’t wait for fame and fortune, they prefer to keep their forward motion as unrelenting as possible.
It’s amazing though just how far and big Bury Tomorrow have become in such a short period of time. Keeping themselves consistent in both music and live sets are their main objective definitely. One of the best rising underground metalcore bands, boasting confidence as time goes by, Bury Tomorrow are flourishing the metal scene! :D

Russian Red - Everyday, Everynight
“You were discovering a new land, I was lonely.”
She’s one of the biggest names in the Spanish Indie scene. Folk mood, sweet voice with a vintage look, Lourdes Hernandez (Russian Red) has become a sensation in recent years and appeared to have received few nominations in Spain. Her “Everyday, Everynight” music video shows that she has a thing for an acting career though! Apart from that, most of her recent tunes like “Conquer The World”, “Fuerteventura” and “The Sun The Trees” are just simple and clear, with no regrets. Well some of you might thought at first that the name ‘Russian Red’ is a lipstick color! I thought so too. :D

What the world needs now is her kind of music. Russian Red is a performer of her own creations and with a tremendous ability as a composer, no wonder she’s like a gift from heaven. Lourdes’ unmistakable voice represent a unique opportunity to let the public know of her acoustic folk and pop music. Known by many as the ‘Spanish Feist’ since her first album titled “I Love Your Glasses”, Lourdes was inspired to sing most of her songs in English and allow wider reception and understanding to her music. She totally has that genuine sweetness in her!
Te queremos Russian Red!

In the meantime, check out this another video of hers “So Long, Marianne”. Espectacular.
