Chet Faker - Terms And Conditions
“Oh baby, I’ve been a fool. Now the sound of loving is old and somehow gone.”
I truly believe that beards have some magical powers in them. Beards will rule the world sooner or later, with powerful music of course and Chet Faker just might be the new prince. Well, almost. :)

His elegant soothing voice is definitely the key for him to go far in this urban electronica-acoustic track kind of feeling, known as ‘Terms And Conditions’. It’s sometimes hard to work out how good the actual music is. There’s a fine line. Especially for him who long ago gave up hoping for any of his records to reach a ‘freakout’ level, till ‘No Diggity’ came along. His cover of ‘No Diggity’ by Blackstreet hit top spot in the worldwide indie music. That made him even more adventurous in search of a suitable tune.
His emotional impulses are somewhat compromised by the tightly controlled nature of his music. I might feel that his music is rather easily challenged by other musicians, but Chet Faker should find this an approachable and engaging introduction to a most pleasant-looking Aussie. It’s the usual moody blend of electronica, indie, piano balladry, and a pinch of dark jazz perhaps, he made his EP album ‘Thinking in Textures’ more of a euphoric trance with soul vocals. In other words, enjoy the music. :)

Lovedrug - Wild Blood
“I’m a lover, not a fighter.”

Original and very captivating, Lovedrug’s appearance says it all. Already played with bands like The Killers and Switchfoot, no wonder their music have immaculate the strong reception they’ve been getting!
Those lucky enough to hear them before us, you guys better give them a nod for their growing phenomenon to retain their artistic freedom. Lovedrug are standing out in the rock scene as we speak with their current album “Wild Blood”. Songs like ‘Pink Champagne’, ‘Girl’, and ‘Ladders’ provide that definition of sweet control. They are just taking their time with this album and putting their hearts into these songs. Let it ring, hear the sound, bow your head and take a moment to listen :)
It’s just a matter of respecting their standpoint on the songs and make sure that we believe in what they’re doing. Formed in 2002, Lovedrug is the brainchild of Michael Sheppard, who is responsible for the vocals and guitars as well. Rising above the indie rock silhouette, Michael brought quality arrangement and his own accomplished presence to the band. A smashing success!
As long you have that somebody that actually likes their music, you can go as far as you can without getting screwed! :D

Oh and check out their ‘Dinosaur’ music video! Weird, funny, unique, brilliant.. and a bunch of hotties too :)
Russian Red - Everyday, Everynight
“You were discovering a new land, I was lonely.”
She’s one of the biggest names in the Spanish Indie scene. Folk mood, sweet voice with a vintage look, Lourdes Hernandez (Russian Red) has become a sensation in recent years and appeared to have received few nominations in Spain. Her “Everyday, Everynight” music video shows that she has a thing for an acting career though! Apart from that, most of her recent tunes like “Conquer The World”, “Fuerteventura” and “The Sun The Trees” are just simple and clear, with no regrets. Well some of you might thought at first that the name ‘Russian Red’ is a lipstick color! I thought so too. :D

What the world needs now is her kind of music. Russian Red is a performer of her own creations and with a tremendous ability as a composer, no wonder she’s like a gift from heaven. Lourdes’ unmistakable voice represent a unique opportunity to let the public know of her acoustic folk and pop music. Known by many as the ‘Spanish Feist’ since her first album titled “I Love Your Glasses”, Lourdes was inspired to sing most of her songs in English and allow wider reception and understanding to her music. She totally has that genuine sweetness in her!

In the meantime, check out this another video of hers “So Long, Marianne”. Espectacular.
Los Campesinos - By Your Hand
“By your hand is the only end I forsee, I have been dreaming you’ve been dreaming about me.”

Welsh popsters Los Campesinos are a bunch who just love to tell a story in each of their tracks they’ve invented. “By Your Hand” doesn’t seem to sound like a depressing one and their music doesn’t seem to have changed much since their last recent fourth album “Hello Sadness”. This track is truly heart-warming and charming lyrically! Comparing to their previous song titles which most are always so elaborate, I’d would think we should all take pride in their musical ability despite ridiculous titles. Reminds me the good old days of Panic! At The Disco. We really hope Los Campesinos can reach the same level as them! :)
Not necessarily different from previous works, there’s definitely nothing wrong with that as the band is still really good at what they do.
Los Campesinos came down to Esplanade, Singapore recently for ‘Mosaic Music Festival’ and they’re by far the coolest people who are fans of shiny things and pretty colours. Believe it or not in these obsessed times, Los Campesinos are young and intense when it comes to making the crowd pumped up! High speed guitar riffs, keyboards and glockenspiel bangs, you do wanna check them out or listen to them before going to bed. It doesn’t matter in the end. With such excitement, ‘By Your Hand’ is definitely our song recommendation for the day.

For now let’s switch up to another classic video of theirs, “You! Me! Dancing!”. You keep us dancing all day!
Future Islands - Balance
From Baltimore, Maryland, Future Islands is a brilliant post wave, synthpop band. And this underrated band has delivered it again with an amazing tune and equally amazing and poetic lyrics.
“And I can sit and talk, because I was just like you, so arrogant and brave, impetuous and blue. But trust me as a friend, I’ll do all that I can do. I’d do anything for you, because I want to see you through. It just takes time. You can change your life.”
The song is from their third album, ‘On the Water’. Future Islands will be releasing their third album, in just a few weeks time! You can preorder their album here

Ducktails - Killin’ the Vibe
Ducktails is a solo project by Matt Mondanile (Real Estate and Predator Vision). He occasionally has collaborations with other bands (and people) and in this one, he collaborated with Panda Bear.
Killin’ The Vibe is a b-side off Ducktails’ record, Ducktails III: Arcade Dynamics. With Noah Lennox (Panda Bear) on vocals, the song is really chill, and gives off a very summer-y vibe.

Florence + The Machines - What The Water Gave Me
“Lay me down. Let the only sound.. be the overflow.”
Florence, oh Florence. You never stop to amaze us.
We totally can’t wait for their new album “Ceremonials” which will be out on 31st October. However, this track titled “What The Water Gave Me” off their upcoming new album shows an effortless climb masked by hard work!
Florence and The Machine emerged as a fully formed hit making machine. Their first album “Lungs” however was the real experiment about all the different things Florence get excited of from moment to moment. A scrapbook of her life perhaps.
Florence Welch is not your average girl next door. She has that unique, distinctive voice that could bring even an average song to life. With her ability to command a wide range of emotions and styles, she definitely has a swagger on her songs. Florence’s passion, commitment and talent cannot be doubted though. Her angelic presence serves to remind us that Florence and The Machine aren’t letting a second go to waste.
“I want my music to sound like throwing yourself out of a tree, or off a tall building, or as if you’re being sucked down into the ocean and you can’t breathe.”
Don’t we just love female vocalists with that indie flavour. :)

Jumping Ships - Talisman
Rock is a beautiful thing. Alternative rockers Jumping Ships may just sound typical like any band that has been heard so many times, but there is something inherently loveable in the sound of rock ‘n’ roll being done. Truthfully it is all well done by them!
Jumping Ships’ second EP album titled “Standard Bearer” is a stirring mix of comforting familiarity and pretty bold experimentation. Make no mistake, it’s nothing particularly groundbreaking however it’s tuneful and worth checking out. In addition, look out for singer Michael Williams’ titanic vocals and his wrong-footing time signature, together with distorted power chords, can change lives when played with conviction!

So we present to you ‘Talisman’ music video taken from their recent album “Standard Bearer” which was released on September 12. Twisted yet catchy guitar riffs, the song is fantastic. Just because something sound so familiar doesn’t mean it can’t sound exciting! :D

Yuna - Come As You Are (Nirvana Cover)
The word ‘unexpected’ popped into our head when Yuna made a cover of this song! If you haven’t heard of her, let us fill you in.
Yuna is one of Malaysia’s finest and most influential singers online! She started making originals on youtube with a rare purity in her voice. Songs like ‘Rocket’ and ‘Deeper Conversation’ are almost therapeutic. The musical aspect of social networking is eliminating genre borders or barriers like never before. She sounds like a cross between Norah Jones and Fiona Apple. Her indie-acoustic music makes her stage personality and soft vocals ever charming. :)
Yuna’s debut EP was already out on March 15th.
No matter how the setting is, we hope she doesn’t stop to surprise us with her lovely songs in the future.
True fact: Yuna is also an owner of the clothing shop, ‘I Am Jet Fuel’, a successful couture boutique in Malaysia.
